About Me
My name is Velma Penermon Stevens. I am a licensed clinical social worker. Originally from Miami, Florida. I am a proud graduate of the magnificent Florida A & M and Florida State Universities where I received both my professional degrees in Social Work, a Bachelor's, and a Master's Degree. I have over 26 years of experience in this field. In addition to the Pastoral Care experience for 8 years. The majority of that is within the non-profit sector, where I saw firsthand the need for specialized counseling and therapy services.

I know how living situations, health status, and even zip codes can impact a person’s mental health. I would like to help with breaking barriers, breaking negative cycles, and breaking through the difficult times that challenge a person’s sense of wellness. My entire professional career has been dedicated to empowering those who have felt disenfranchised and unheard while helping them to find their voice. I offer a wide variety of compassionate and judgment-free therapeutic approaches to mental health counseling. My specialties include depression, substance use/abuse, anxiety, grief & loss, domestic violence, caregiver support, and marriage/family/relationship issues.
My treatment modalities entail an individual treatment plan just for you. Among, the modalities are crisis intervention, solution-focused therapy, storytelling, narrative therapy, strengths-based, and family systems.

I believe that everyone is capable of change. I believe that balance in one's life is achievable and obtainable. I believe this is achievable when people have the right conditions under which they can thrive and become their true selves.
